July at the Gypsy Wagon

Silk Sari Kimonos

These are all exquisite and hang beautifully because of the excellent quality of the old silk from India. Can be worn as a kimono or a scarf! Each one is a steal at only $36. New Textiles!

The textiles get cut up, hand quilted together and then over-dyed. Each one is an individual work of art. No two are alike. Feel free to request colors. Here’s a very small sampling of what I got:

We currently have 6 or 7 of the antique hand embroidered torans. These are early 20th century and are true works of folk art. Silk on cotton. We have these in dark purple, seafoam green & a little more modern one in pink:

My photos really don’t do these items justice. If you’re local here in Bandon or planning on coming to town, now would be a good time to see how beautiful these things are. Probably From Saurashtra Gujarat, India. Early 20th Century Hand-embroidered silk on cotton, wedding canopy. Bride and mother work on these for months to prepare for the wedding:
